Can Magic and Song Help Reduce Maternal Mortality in India?
Across rural India, women are dying needlessly due to a lack of information and limited access to quality healthcare during pregnancy and childbirth. Globally, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that every day 810 women die due to preventable complications in pregnancy and childbirth. The government in India want to reduce the current Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) from approximately 145 to under 70 deaths per 100,000 live births. If they achieve this by 2030 India will have met the target for the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal 3.1.
