Veena Kaul, President SAM, USA, and Dr. Kuldip Kaul visited SAM program in Sarainandan slum in Varanasi and interacted with the slum dwellers. SAM field staff conducted the tow hour training session of the women. The visitors could appreciate the desire of these women to change their lives. This program is just one-year-old, and SAM is excited about the changes it is already seen in the women of this slum.

The urban slum experience is new for SAM, as it has previously worked in rural villages. SAM plans to expand the program to 10 slums in the next few months. Depending on the availability of financial resources, SAM will like to expand the program to all 224 slums in Varanasi.
